An early start on a dull and very windy Sunday morning (tale end of Hurricane Katia) didn’t deter Simon from getting on the start line for the next 100 mile Cyclosportive event on behalf of Macmillan Cancer Support.

The ride billed as the Macride, took cyclists south of Stratford into the notorious hilly Cotswolds including Saintbury Hill which is was the test of determination and fitness to complete this ride.

Despite an early get off on a damp corner and manhole, 3 miles into the ride, Simon completed the 100 mile route in 6 hours and 56 minutes. The ride was confirmed as the windiest days cycling (the cyclists nightmare) in his riding history

The next cycling event on Simon’s calendar is being held on October 2nd 2011 taking in the Peak District National Park and the infamous Cat and Fiddle ride including a continuous 7 mile hill (there is a pub at the summit – The Cat and Fiddle!). The ride will be raising charity funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Fund
